Born on February 11, 1926 in Palo Alto, California. Enlisted in the Army on July 7, 1944 in Connecticut. Received artillery training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and then joined the 10th Mountain Division. Assigned to the 604th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery C. Served at Camp Swift, Texas and in Italy. Following the War, received his B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut.
